Samsung Galaxy Folder Android flip phone with dual-screen spotted

Samsung's Android-based flip smartphone allegedly named Galaxy Folder has been making waves lately thanks to a series of leaks. It has now been spotted in few images that reveal a dual-screen setup in the flip smartphone.

Clien.net contributors have posted three images that reveal a smartphone - alleged to be the Galaxy Folder - that sports a clamshell design and features dual-screen.

At the start of this month we saw some details related to a purported Samsung clamshell phone surfacing online. The post suggested that the Samsung flip phone is codenamed 'Hennessy' with the model number Samsung SCH-W789, which was different from the model number SHV-E400S/ SHV-E400K that leaked previously.

Meanwhile technology site Techkiddy has revealed some of the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Folder. The rumoured specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Folder include a 3.7-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 480x800 pixels. The device is said to be powered by a 1.7GHz Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. It is likely to run on Android 4.2.2 and would include an 1820mAh battery. The reports also claims that the Galaxy Folder will support LTE which is in line with earlier reports.

Recently, Samsung has been in news with rumours of its next Note phablet hitting the Web. Last week some images of the alleged Note III prototype surfaced online. The images showed front and back panels of the device. The image of the back panel revealed a slot for the stylus while the front panel showed a stretched physical Home button which has been seen on other Galaxy devices like the Note II, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S III.

Alleged pictures of BlackBerry Z15, Z30 smartphones surface online

BlackBerry recently launched its lowest priced BlackBerry 10 phone, the Q5 in India, and now it's rumoured to be working on some new smartphones that are likely to be named BlackBerry A10 and Z15.

BlackBerry's alleged flagship smartphone, formerly code-named as the A10 has got an official name Z30, if reports are to be believed. Purported images of both these yet to be announced devices, Z15 and Z30 have leaked online. Crackberry and Bberryblog have posted images of the BlackBerry Z30 and Z15, respectively.

The images of the Z30 show a full touchscreen device much like the company's flagship smartphone, Z10. The device sports rounded edges and is pictured running the latest BlackBerry OS 10 operating system.

The BlackBerry Z30 will be the first smartphone from the company to boast a 5-inch display, as per the rumour.

 The alleged specifications of the Z30 include a 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and Adreno graphics. The device is said to feature a 5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. It's rumoured to sport an 8-megapixel rear camera accompanied by an LED flash and a 2.0-megapixel front shooter. The device is likely to be backed by a 2800mAH battery. It might come with 16GB internal storage that can be expanded up to 64GB with the help of a microSD card.

Google announces Android Device Manager to help you track a lost phone

Google has announced a new tool that will let users track their lost Android phones on a map, ring them and remotely erase all the data on the phone.

In a blog post, Google mentions that Android Device Manager, can quickly ring a linked phone at maximum volume so that users can find it (even if it's been silenced), or locate it on a map, in real time. It mentions, "If your phone can't be recovered, or has been stolen, you can quickly and securely erase all of the data on your device to keep your data from ending up in the wrong hands."

Its  not sure why Google jumped the gun early and made the announcement, even though the service is still awaiting a launch. It could have announced it when the service was ready.

Apple, Microsoft and BlackBerry have been offering online utilities, namely Find My iPhone, BlackBerry Protect, and Find My Phone, respectively, that let owners of phones track the location of their handsets, lock them, trigger an alarm and wipe data remotely, for a long time.

Google is late to the party, however, making the utility a part of Android would benefit a large number of users. Handset makers like Samsung and HTC already offer similar tools with their Android phones. Sony had also started rolling out its remote security service "my Xperia," in July.

While third-party services offered by companies like McAfee, Norton, Quickheal and Kaspersky, among others also offer mobile security services, they charge users a one time or recurring fee.

Samsung confirms Galaxy Note III launch event for September 4

While rumours surrounding Samsung's next generation Galaxy Note smartphones have been floating for a long time, Samsung has now officially sent invitations for an event scheduled on September 4 in Berlin, where it's

expected to finally unveil the large screen device.

The South Korean electronics major has gone a bit creative with the invitation and has sent it in a handwritten design that says, "Note the date 04.09.2013 Berlin".

The company calls it an 'Unpacked' event, which is scheduled to take place just ahead of the IFA show and it's likely to unveil its rumoured smart watch at the event, as well.

The company has been using the IFA trade show in Berlin to unveil its Galaxy Note phablet devices in the past. Last year, it unveiled the Galaxy Note II device at the event.

The official invite is inline with previous rumours. it was reported earlier that the South Korean giant was planning to unveil the Note III at an event scheduled for September 4 in Berlin.

The Galaxy Note III is likely to feature a 5.7-inch display and the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS. Other leaked specifications suggest that the Samsung Galaxy Note III could sport a Super AMOLED panel similar to Samsung's other high-end devices with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. In terms of camera, Samsung's latest phablet is expected to sport a 13-megapixel rear shooter. It will reportedly be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 3GB of RAM

There have been reports about Samsung testing different screen sizes for the Note III but the company is rumoured to have finalised the 5.7-inch device, considering the market response to the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Mega 6.3.

The company is also expected to use the event to unveil its wearable computing device, most likely a smart watch, giving it a head start over arch rival Apple, which is widely tipped to unveil its iWatch soon. Sony had also recently unveiled SmartWatch 2, a wearable companion for Android devices.

Samsung may unveil the next generation Galaxy Note device and its rumoured smart watch at an event on September 4.

A report in The Korean Media, first picked up by Techkiddy notes that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Note III on September 4 at Berlin. That is two days before the IFA conference kicks off in Berlin, Germany, the event where the original Galaxy Note and its successor have been unveiled in past years.

According to the original report, Samsung will also use the event to unveil its wearable computing device - most likely a smart watch - giving it a head start over arch rival Apple, which is widely tipped to unveil its iWatch soon. Sony recently unveiled SmartWatch 2, a wearable companion for Android devices.

There's no fresh information in terms of specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Note III, or the smart watch. As per earlier reports, Galaxy Note III will come with a 5.7-inch full-HD AMOLED display. It will reportedly be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor alongside 3GB of RAM and run on Android 4.3, the latest iteration of Google's operating system. In terms of camera, Samsung's latest phablet is expected to sport a 13-megapixel rear shooter.

Samsung recently unveiled the Exynos 5420 Octa processor, so the Galaxy Note III may be powered by Samsung's own processor in some markets, and the Qualcomm chip in others, similar to the strategy it followed with the Galaxy S4.
