Through tomorrow, or until supplies run out, HP has the refurbished Pavilion DM1-4310NR 11.6-inch laptop for $259.99 shipped. Actually, that's not so unusual. But this is: It includes two years of 4G service via T-Mobile.Two free years of service! That's kind of WOW.  But there is a catch of sorts: You're limited to just 200MB of data per month. You'll need to limit yourself to basic Web and e-mail activities.

In fact, there's no annual contract involved, no credit card required to activate service, and no overage fees if you hit the 200MB cap. If and when that happens, you simply purchase data passes to add more connectivity time.

let's talk about the Pavilion itself. It's part of the dm1 series, one of which I've owned (and really liked) for several years. It's slim and fairly lightweight (3.5 pounds), and this model has sufficient horsepower for everyday computing tasks: AMD E2-1800 processor, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive, and Windows 8.

Ports include HDMI and two USB, one of which is 3.0. This being a refurb, it comes with a 90-day warranty.
