Nokia Asha 501 launched in India for Rs. 5,199

Nokia announced the Asha 501, the company’s latest full touch phone with the new phone in the Asha range earlier today. It runs on Nokia Asha software platform with Swipe UI, has a 3-inch QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) display and a 3.2-megapixel fixed focus rear camera.  Priced at a mere Rs 5,300 the smartphone boasts of the same colorful vibrancy seen in the high-end Lumia range, the familiar functionality of the N9 with impressive features and add-ons like updated version of the Nokia Xpress browser, free Facebook, 40 free EA games, incredible battery life of 48 days in standby and 17 hours of talk time and much more.

    The Nokia Asha 501 was unveiled in May as the first device to run the new Asha platform, which Nokia has designed to provide fast response forthe user. 

    Nokia Asha 501 comes with a 3.0-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a 240x320 pixels resolution, a single 'back' button and weighs a mere 98 grams. The smartphone has an 3.2-megapixel rear camera. Nokia had said at the time of the phone's launch that it will be coming up with  single-SIM and dual-SIM variant of Asha 501. The model that has made its way to Indian market  is the dual-SIM variant that comes with Nokia's easy swap feature. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but no 3G or GPS.

    The phone comes with 64MB internal storage, that is expandable by another 32GB. Nokia is bundling a 4GB microSD card free with the phone. Asha 501 claimsthat it will offer the users with a stunning   talk time of 17 hours and a standby time of 26 days on a single charge.

    The Nokia Asha 501 comes with over 50 pre-installed apps including Facebook and Twitter; chat services like Line, Nimbuzz and WeChat and other apps such as Cricbuzz, Newshunt, GetMeRated, CricInfo, CNN, ComicsHead and Twist Music. The phone will also come with 40 free EA games that can be downloaded by consumers.

    Some popular applications such as eBuddy, ESPN, Foursquare, LinkedIn, Pictelligent, The Weather Channel, World of Red Bull and a few popular games from Electronic Arts, Gameloft, Indiagames, NamcoBandai and Reliance Games are already available on the Asha platform. Nokia claims that it will continue to add more popular apps to this platform in the near future.
